在爱彼迎(Airbnb)决定退出中国本土市场后,本土玩家纷纷涌入:途家、美团、木鸟、飞猪和小猪都是中国本土的大型在线旅游和短租玩家,它们正在联系当地爱彼迎(Airbnb房东),让他们迁移到各自的平台上。

报道称,途家已经成立了专门的业务服务团队,与房东合作,并将很快推出“一键启动”迁移服务。同样,美团也成立了团队,为房东提供快速入住率审核、5分钟内快速响应等服务。

Short Term Rental Companies Rush to Fill in Airbnb’s China Void

After Airbnb decided to exit the local Chinese market, local players are rushing in: Tujia, Meituan, Muniao, Fliggy and Xiaozhu are large local Chinese online travel and short-term rental players that are reaching out to the local Airbnb hosts to migrate them to their respective platforms, according to this report.

Tujia has set up a special business services team to work with the hosts and will soon launch “one-click launch” migration services, the story says. Similarly, Meituan has also set up a team to provide hosts with services such as quick audits of housing occupancy and quick responses within five minutes.

With more calls and less staff, tour operator turns to pre-booking deposit

One tour operator's bold business move is challenging the efficiency of the custom-travel booking process as travel's roaring comeback tests understaffed businesses.

Custom travel tour operator Authentic Vacations started requiring a $99 refundable deposit of either direct clients or travel advisors who wish to have a representative build an itinerary.

The change was introduced as a way to weed out window-shoppers who don't commit to booking and enable staff to focus on genuine inquiries that convert into sales.

It is an uncommon move for a tour operator to make, industry experts say, and one that takes a page from the travel advisor playbook: Agencies and advisors have long been charging service fees to not waste their time on inquiries that are not serious. Travel Weekly's 2021 Travel Industry Survey found that the share of revenue from service fees increased from 18% to 27% from 2018 to 2020.

Venice Postpones Tourist Entry Fee Until 2023

At the very last minute before it was supposed to be implemented, Venice has postponed its trialling of entry fee for tourists until next year. Earlier I April it had announced that is was going to experiment with the fee to ease over tourism and crowding in its main areas.

As visitor numbers returned to pre-pandemic levels earlier in the spring, the city council earlier this year decided to move forward with the entry fee after postponing it due to covid, reports Euronews, but now it will officially launch on Jan. 16, 2023.

Holland America Line Names New Flagship Rotterdam VII

Holland America Line officially named its new flagship, the 2,668-passenger Rotterdam VII, in a traditional christening ceremony in its namesake city on May 30.

Princess Margriet of the Netherlands served as godmother in a ceremony in the ship’s World Stage in front of dignitaries and guests. She pulled a cord on stage that freed a champagne bottle to smash against the ship’s hull.

Princess Margriet was welcomed at the gangway with a floral bouquet presented by seven-year-old Nora van Dijk, daughter of Nathalie van Dijk, who has been with Holland America Line for 15 years, most recently as a business development representative in the Rotterdam office. (from travelpulse
