Feel wildebeests' hooves pounding across the plains in Serengeti National Park

Each year, Serengeti National Park spawns one of the world's most magnificent wildlife spectacles. It starts on the short grass plains in the southeastern part of the park between January and March, when more than 8000 wildebeest calves are born each day.

In late April up to 1.5 million start "The Great Migration" - an eight -month round trip towards northern Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara in search of better grazing lands. Along the way, the animals may travel well over 1000km, dodging the snapping jaws of hungry crocodiles and river currents, watched on by some of Africa's greatest safari species: lion, elephant, rhino, giraffe, and buffalo.

Predators, especially, are a highlight, with lions, leopards and cheetahs frequently spotted in the open country around Serengeti area.
