We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Location: Wulanchabu (乌兰察布), also named Ulanqab, is a city in the middle of Inner Mongolia, bordered on Hebei Province in the east, and connected with Shanxi Province in the south.

History: According to the record, the history of Wulanchabu could be traced back to Warring State, when it was the ligeance of Zhao state and Hun. After Qin Dynasty’s unification, Wulanchabu was designed into its territory. Then Hun took up this area after Qin’s decline. Hun established the supreme government department-Zhongbu Chanyu Court. In the early Qing Dynasty, Wulanchabu got its formal name.

Climate: Wulanchabu city is situated in the temperate zone, so the climate of the city features continental monsoon climate with four distinctive seasons. Beijing separated by Mt. Daqingshan, the climate in Wulanchabu marked warm and rainy in front of the mountain and windy behind the mountain. The annual mean temperature drifts between 0℃~18℃.

Transportation: Wulanchabu city has superior location and well-developed transportation network. Three developed railways pass through the prefecture such as Beijing-Baotou, Jinning-Erlianhot and Jining-Tongliao Railways. Major inter-provincial roads include the Beijing-Hohhot Expressway, China National Highway 110 (Beijing to Yinchuan) and 208 (Erlianhot to Changzhi).

Attractions: Gegentala Grassland-Gegantala Grassland is 2-hour drive from Hohhot city. It is one of the most unique grasslands in Inner Mongolia. Gegentala means “a summer resort ” in Mongolia, featuring cool weather, fascinating natural scenery.

Huanghua Channel-Huanghua Channel Scenic Spot (Yellow Flower Channel), a typical alpine grassland terrain, is in the hinterland of Ulanqab Grassland. Covering an area of more than 600 square kilometers, Huanghua Channel is well-known for the glorious yellow flowers in summer.
