History: Taizhou was first know as “Haiyang” in the Spring and Autumn Period. It became Hailing County in 117 B.C. and was famous during the Eastern Jin Dynasty on a par with Jinling (Nanjing) and Guangling(Yangzhou), Lanling (Changzhou). During the (Southern Tang)Dynasty it was named "Taizhou Prefecture". In Ming Dynasty, Taizhou became independent of its larger neighbor Yangzhou.
Climate: Taizhou has a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized four distinctive seasons. The summer is hot and rainy under the influence of maritime tropical air. The winter is cool with the influence of continental polar air. Its annual average temperature is 16.6℃-17.5℃, descending from south to north. It enjoy an annual average sunshine hour for 1800-2037 hours and a annual mean rainfall of 1185-2029mm.
Transportation: Air-Taizhou Luqiao Airport is in the east end of Yingbing Avenue. Scheduled airlines to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Changsha, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Qingdao, etc are available.
Railway-Shanghai-Kunming Railway runs through the city. This railway has three stations in city, which are Longyou Station, Quzhou Station, Jiangshan Station.
Highway-Ningbo-Wenzhou Railway passes through the city.
Local Specialties: Wenzhou is the largest export base for the handcraft made by bamboo, silver, cloth, plastic, glass, ceramics and so on.

Attraction: Xianju- Xianju (仙居) means habitation for immortal. It consist of five scenic pot such as Jingxing Rock, Shenxian Ju, Shisan Du, Danzhu, and Gongyu. The whole scenic has ravines and broad leaved evergreen forest zone, and has 25 species of trees and almost 100 kinds of rare birds and creatures. Drifting along the clean waters of Yong’an Stream would be a fantastic experience.
