We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Location: Guangyuan (广元) lies in the northern part of Sichuan Basin and the upstream of Jialing River.

Population: 3,162,000

Area: with an area of 16,314 square kilometers

History: Formerly known as Lizhou, the history of Guangyuan could be traced back to 4,000 years ago, when Ju Kingdom was founded. During 770B.C. to 221B.C., it belonged to the territory of Shu. In West Wei Dynasty, it was named Lizhou and Manager Mansion was set up in this area. Until Yuan Dynasty, the name was changed into Guangyuan. In 1949, Guangyuan was liberated, while in 1985, Guangyuan Government was founded.

Climate: Since Guangyuan is situated at the foot of Qinling-the transition belt between north and south, the climate here is combined the character both north and south. Under the influence of subtropical humid monsoon climate, the annual average temperate is 16.1℃, while it is 26.1℃ in July and 4.9℃ in January. Its sunshine hour achieves 1400 hours and the precipitation ranges between 800-1000mm. The free-frost period lasts for 220-260 days.

Transportation: Air- Guangyuan Panlong Airport has opened airlines to Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Hanghzou.

Railway-Baoji-Chengdu Railway and Guangyuan-Wanzhou Railway were open to traffic.

Highway-Guangyuan Long-distant Bus Station offers buses to Mianyang, Jiangyou, Chengdu, and Deyang.
Shangxi Coach Station is located at Zetian Road, Guangyuan City

Waterway-Guangyuan Port is the third great port in Sichuan Province.

Specialties: Guangyuan has abundant fork arts and crafts such as willow embroidery, stone carving, walking stick, and so on.

Local Food: Guangyuan steamed noodle, Jianmen beancurd, walnut cake

Attractions: Huangze Temple –Huangze Temple (皇泽寺), the worship temple of China’s only female emperor Wu Zetian, is situated in west of the Jialing River, Guangyuan city, Sichuan Province. In 1961, it was listed as the first Important Heritage Site under State Protection by the State Council. It preserves 6 caves excavated from Bei Wei to Qing Dynasty, 1203 bas-reliefs on precipices and all dynasties stele-inscription
