History: In 593, Sui Dynasty, Emei County was set up under the administration of Meishan shire. Subsequently, Suishan county and Luomu county were set up. In Song Dynasty, Suishan and Luomu were merged into Emei under the jurisdiction of Jiading Prefecture. In 1949, Emei county was founded and in 1988, it was upgraded into city-level.
