Lhasa belongs to highland temperate semi-arid monsoon climate zone. The annual sunshine hours in Lhasa is 3000 hours which is 1800 hours more than that in Chengdu. As it ranks top in long sunshine hour cities, it gained the reputation of solar city.
While the altitude of Lhasa is 3650 meters, it has thin air, low temperature and big temperature difference. The highest temperature of Lhasa is no more than 30 ℃ and the lowest temperature is less than -16℃. Lhasa is windy and dry in spring and winter and the frost-free days are just 100~200 days. The annual rainfall is 210~500 mm and it concentrates from June to September. Comparatively speaking, from March to October are the best days to travel in Lhasa as the climate is warm and humid.
