We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Zhumadian Travel Guide

Location: Zhumadian (驻马店) is in the middle south of Henan province.  

Population: 7,230,744

Area: with an area of 15,083 square kilometers

Nationalities: Han, Hui, Miao, Zhuang, Tujia, etc.

History: The history of Zhumadian could be traced back to 4,500 years ago. In BC221, Qin kingdom accomplished the unite and established many countries in Zhumadian. In 8th, June, 2000, Zhumadian was authorized to city-level and dominate 9 counties as well as one district.

Climate: Zhumadian enjoys a four-season, monsoon-influenced humid subtropical climate with cold, somewhat damp winters and hot, humid summers. Its annual mean temperature is between 14.9℃ and 15℃. More than 60% of the annual precipitation of 979 mm (38.5 in) occurs from June to September, while there are 1,927 hours of bright sunshine annually.

Transportation: Railway- Jingguan Railway and Shiwu High-Speed Railway pass through Zhumadian city.

Highway-One of the Chinese main highways, China National Highway 107, runs through Zhumadian. Zhumadian also has its own transportation system.

Local Specialty: Straw Painting is a kind of traditional handcraft of Zhumadian.

Local Food: Mutton Soup, Fenjiang Noodle

Attractions: Chaya Mountain-Chaya Mountain is 25km west from Zhumadian. On the mountain there are steep and rocky peaks and deep caves surrounded by age-old trees and green vines. At the foot, there flow streams towards lakes, making various reflections. In this fairyland, there are altogether 9 sites, 9 peaks, 9 stones, 9 pavilions, 9 caves and over 200 scenic spots of various kinds. Just the breathtaking landscape provoked the Chengen, Wu to establish the world famous <Synopsis of Journey to West>.

Boshan Lake Scenic Spot-Boshan Lake (薄山湖) is long and narrow valley lake, continuous for 5 km. It covers an area of 240 square km, a forest coverage of 90% and a waterside area of 22 square km. Boshan Lake is a paradise for animals and plants. In the attraction there are over 1,400 species of plants, among which many are under national key protection. Besides, there are nearly 100 species of animals. The rare birds are white swans, mandarin ducks, golden pheasants and so on.
