We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

The legend of Zao Lu Tang
In the first year of Ming Emperor Shizong, Song Linyuan who was a medicinal herb collector bore his medicine and walked to Chang’an City. Song Yuanlin bore his medicine burden to the medicine market which is called Wuwei Shizi now. At that time, Wuwei Shizi was an uncultivated land in the southwest corner in Chang’an City.

In Wuwei Shizi, medicine burden come from all over the country lined up. And Song Linyuan’s burden was placed on a high soil ridge. There was wild wormwood, wolf dung and hand-made pergola on the soil ridge. So far, Zao Lu Tang business in Xi’an has started.

In the beginning, Song Linyuan specialized in curing injuries from falls, fractures, contusions and strains, sidelining in edema and carcinoma of the rectum which were two seasonal pestilence at that time. However, there was another disease―infertility perplexed ladies at that time.

Song Linyuan adventurously used herb tea to regulate Qi in women’s body and achieved wonderful curative effect. Then, Zao Lu Tang earned its fame and made a big fortune in Xi’an City. In the sixth year of the Qing Emperor Kangxi, Zao Lu Tang built a house, paid taxes and hang a golden shop sign. And Zao Lu Tang became the most famous herbal medicine shop with the highest altitude in Wuwei Shizi.

The second generation inheritor Song Yingquan not only inherited his ancestral medical skills, but also made improvement to traditional techniques. Through prolonged research and development, Song Yingquan finally transformed herb tea into the easy-taking Pei Kun Wan. Since then, the secret prescription of Zao Lu Tang spread all over the country.
