Hu County Li wood carving(户县李氏木刻) originated in 1877, after four generations of inheritance and development, it has formed its own unique style and character. It works have fine texture and beautiful smooth lines, colorful patterns. In 2009, it has been certified by experts as the skill represented by Liu Lipeng who is the inheritor of "Hu County Li wood carving" and it has been included in the second batch of non-heritage protection project in Xi'an.
The second session of the intangible cultural heritage opened in Xi'an. In front of Hu County woodcut exhibition, there are full of people. They are aking questions about engraving and pattern ...... really "hot." In the middle of the crowd, a woman kept playing with the knife and wooden hands. And she is the fifth generation inheritor of "Hu County Li wood carving". Liu Lipeng is the sole inheritors of the craft and she hoped to hand down this art. But she found it that it is hard to find successors. Faced of confusion, Liu Lipeng want to find successors across the country.
Liu Lipeng pointed to "Zhu family motto" on the wall maroon, she told reporters: "This piece is hard to carve. Because it has engraved with the words above 103 kinds of different fonts, 103 kinds of different design tricks. The details are very small and it has taken her six months to complete this work. "She told reporters that her skills were passed down from her uncle Li Wenbin. Li Wenbin is a culture celebrity in Hu County and he has achievements in calligraphy and painting. Although he is a mechanical engineer, but he did not abandon his family carpenter and ancestral woodcut art.
When Liu Lipeng was in the age of 16, her uncle asked her about her hobby. Her answer was "art", so her uncle "catch" her to learn woodcut at home. After studying for three years woodcut in the uncle's home, Liu Lipeng entered a local lacquer furniture factory in Hu County. A few years later, she went to the Guangzhou venture. By 2001, with a certain accumulation of capital, she came back to Hu County to found a garment factory. In the interview, Liu Lipeng Oriole avoid mentioning this "glorious" time.
Now the "Hu County Li wood carving" has become the second batch of non-heritage protection project in Xi'an. Today, Liu Lipeng has successfully converted role as a professional artist of woodcuts.
