History: According to the written record, the history of Tieling could be traced back to 4,000. In Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, Lianing set up relationship of administrative subordination with Dynasty of Central Plain. In 1664, three years of Qing Emperor Kangxi, Tieling Country was established. After the September 18th Incident, counties in Liaobei were occupies by Japanese enemy. In October, 28th , 1948, Tieling was totally liberated.
.Climate: Under the influence of temperate monsoon climate, Tieling characterize four distinctive seasons and modest rainfall. The highest temperature reaches up 35℃ and the lowest is -31℃, while the annual average temperature is 6.3℃. The freeze-up period lasts for 154 days. The free-frost period is between 127 days to 162 days. It has a precipitation of 700mm.
Transportation: Railway- Beijng-Harbin Railway, Qiqihar-Siping Railway, Siping-Meihekou Railway, Kaiyuan-Xifeng Railway and Tieling-Tiefa Mine Area is arranged in a crisscross pattern in Tieling city. Tieling Railway Station is in Guangrong St., Yinzhou Dsitrict, 770 km from Beijing Railway Station and 479km from Harbin Railway Station.ieling West Railway Station brought into operation after Harbin-Dalian High-Speed Railway was opened.
Highway- Highways centering on Harbin-Dalian Highway spreads all over the cities and counties around Tieling. Tieling Transit Center was built up in April, 1998, offering coaches to Shenyang, Dalian, Anshan, Fushun, Siping, Changchun, etc.
Specialties: The celebrated local specialties include pilose antler, ginseng as well as tussur silk.
Local Food: Tieling Green Chinese Onion and Kaiyuan garlic are essential food in local.
Attractions: Lvory Mountain Scenic Spot- Lvory Mountain (象牙山) is the only geopark of volcanic rock. The whole scenic spot covers an area of 99 square kilometers with the main peak as high as 615.2 meters. The scenic spot is divided into east tour route and west tour route, consisting of high ladder, flying stone, general bed, monkey stone, butterfly spring, beacon tower and so on.
Yingang Academy-Yingang Academy (银冈书院), situated in north of museum inYinzhou District, Tieling city, is the place where Chou Enlai studied during his teens.
