History: 7,000 years ago, Shuangyashan was the ancient capital of Yilou kingdom. It was the cradle of Manchu. In 1946, it was first designated a county and in 1954 the area was officially authorized as a city by the CPC Central Committee and State Council. As the basement of mine in the eastern region of Heilongjiang, in 1947, Shuangyashan Bureau of Mine was officially established.
Climate: Shuangyashan enjoys a temperate continental monsoon climate with a long, cold winter and short, hot summer. It has an annual average temperature of 4.5℃. The highest temperature appears in July, about 37℃, while the lowest one is in January, about -20℃. The annual precipitation is 476.5mm. The sunshine hour is up to 2524.5 hours in total. It has a 197-day free-frost.
Transportation: Airline-Shuangyashan is about 80km from Jiamusi Airport, which opens scheduled domestic airlines to Harbin, Dalian, Beijing, Shanghia, Guangzhou as well as international airlines to Khabarovsk in Russia.
Railway- A 79km long national railway running through Shuangyashan get to Jiamusi city toward west. Shuangyashan railway connect Shuangyashan with Beijing, Dalian, Harbin, etc. Shuangyashan North High-Speed Railway Station is under construction.
Highway-Hongqiao coach station has long-distance international buses to Russia.
Specialties: Wild animals such wild pig, bear, roe deer, deer as well as all kind of precious Chinese medicinal crops are common in Shuangyashan. A great number of them are exported overseas.
Attractions: As a beautiful mountain city, many tourist scenic spots are based on the hill at the back and overlooking the river such as Beixiu Park, Yishou Park, etc. The fresh air, aromatic flowers or thick trees make people breathtaking.
