Location: Shiwei (室韦) is the most northern town of Inner Mongolia.

History: Shiwei town is small but has a long history. According to the record, Shiwei tribe inhabited this area on fishing and hunting as far back as Sui and Tand Dynasty. In Qing Dynasty (1908), Jilalin Governing Council was set up to manage a set of administrative affairs. In 1920, Shiwei County was formed.
