Location: Qitaihe (七台河) borders Jixi and Mudanjiang in the south, Jiamusi and Hegang in the north, Shuangyashan in the east and Harbin in the west.

History: As early as 3,000 years ago, the ancient Suzhen group, the ancestor of the Manchu inhabited in the region. In 1965, Qitaihe special administrative region was founded until 1983, it upgraded as a provincial city. In 1910, coal resources were found in Qitaihe. However, coal mining industry did not really start until The CPC Committee of Heilongjiang Province ordered Hegang Mining Bureau to take charge of the Extractive industries in Boli County in 1958.
Climate: Qitaihe has a temperate humid climate featuring four distinct seasons. It has long, cold, dry winters, and hot, humid, rainy summer. Spring is windy and dry, whine autumn cool down too fast. The annual average temperature is 21.9℃ with the lowest temperature of -18.3℃ in January and highest temperature of 37.4℃ in July. The annual mean precipitation is 549mm. It has 128-day free-frost period.
Transportation: Railway-Mudanjiang-Jiamusi railway and Boli-Qitaihe railway meet in Qitaihe in the shape of “T”. It is very convenient to Vladivostok in Russia, Dalian, Harbin from Qitaihe by train.
Highway-Qitaihe highway leads into all directions. It takes 48 minutes to Jixi toward south, 2 hours to Mudanjiang, 2 hours to Shuangyashan toward east, 1.5 hours to Jiamusi toward north and 3.5 hours to Harbin toward west.
Specialties: Chinese grass brush rough gentian, latycodon grandiflorum, and Mushen wine are specialties of Qitaihe.
