History: As early as Spring and Autumn and Warring period, it was part of Yan Kingdom and in Eastern Han period, it was under the administration of Liaodong. During 911-926, the name “Jinzhou” began to use. In Qing Dynasty, Kangxi emperor set up Jinzhou Prefecture. After the establishment of Republic of China, Jinzhou Prefecture was abolished and replaced by Jinzhou County. In August, 1954, Liaodong and Liaoxi were combined into Liaoning Proivnce and Jinzhou was directly administrated by Liaoning Province.
Climate: Jinzhou has a temperate monsoon climate, featuring four distinctive seasons. Winters are cold and dry, while summers are hot and humid. The annual average temperature ranges between 8℃-9℃. The monthly 24-hour average temperature is from -7.9℃ in January to 24 ℃ in July. The annual precipitation means 540-640mm, a majority of which concentrates in July. The free-frost period lasts for 180 days.
Transportation: Air-Jinzhou Xiaolingzi Airport has opened international airlines to Hongkong, Seoul and domestic airlines to Beijing, Shanghia, Qingdao, Dalian, Guangzhou, Wenzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Nanjing, Chengdu, Kunming, Taiyuan, Hangzhou and so on.
Railway- Jinzhou Railway Station and Jinzhou South Railway Station connect Jinzhou to major cities such as Shenyang, Dalian, Dandong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chongqing, Hangzhou, Taiyuan, Xian, Chengdu, Fuzhou, Jinan, Changchun, Qiqihar, etc.
Highway-Jinzhou Highway extends into all directions. It takes about 1 hour to nearby cities due to the junctions of Beijing-Harbin Highway, Beijing-Shenyang Highway, Jinzhou-Fuxin Highway, and Jinzhou-Chaoyang Highway.
Waterway-Jinzhou Port is the only international business port fully opening to public along 400-km beachline in the northwest of Bohai Sea.

Attractions: Imperial Tombs of Liao Dynasty-Imperial tombs of Liao Dynasty (辽代帝王陵墓群) is at the foot of Wanghai Peak, the highest peak of Yiwuge Mountain with an area of 16 square kilometers. The large-scaled imperial tombs centers on Xian Tomb and Qian Tomb and plus additional 13 accompanying tombs.
