Location: Greater Khingan Mountains (大兴安岭) is situated in the northeast of Inner Mongolia. It is a watershed between Inner Mongolian Plateau and Songliao Plain.

Climate: Greater Khingan Mountains is situated in the extreme north of China, so the climate features long winter and short summer. Especially in Mohe region, winter is as long as 7 monthes, while summer is only 2 months. The hours of sunshine can lasts for 17 hours from June to August. The temperature in winter surpasses -40 degrees in Mohe region.
Transportation: Airway-The airport in Mohe village is under construction. Jiagedaqi Airport is close to Greater Khingan Mountains.
Railway-The fist travel stop in Great Khingan Mountains is Mohe county. It takes you 9 hours to Jiagedaqi from Harbin. After via the trains to Mohe, it takes you another 10 hours.
Highway- The Jiagedaqi-Tahe-Mohe Highway is available.
Overview: Greater Khingan Mountains is well-known as the celebrated mountains in the northeast of China. It starts with bank of Heilongjiang river in the north and ends with the valley in the upstream of Xilingmu river. The area has a length of over 1200 kilometers, with a width of 200 kilometers-300 kilometers. It covers an area of 250,000 square kilometer, while the forest coverage rate reaches 62%.
Greater Khingan Mountains is rich in resources. Many precious species exists like the Hucho, Brachymystax Lenok, etc. It is also the home to a variety of rare animals and birds, collecting more than 1000 wild plants.
Mohe village (漠河) is the northern extreme of China, situated at the north of the Great Khingan Mountains. Summer in Mohe village can lasts for half a month and the daytime reaches more than 19 hours a day. The mystical northern lights can be seen here so the village is called a city without darkness.
