We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Chinese Opera

Chinese opera (中国戏曲) together with Greek tragicomedy and Sankrit drama are known as three ancient opera culture in the world. As an important part of Chinese traditional culture, Chinese opera is highly regarded as the national essence. It derived from the original song and dance with the mixture of speak, song and farce.

After a long period of development and evolution, Chinese opera gradually formed about 360 kinds, well-known operas including Kunqu Opera, Peking Opera, Yue (Shaoxing) Opera, Huangmei Opera, Ping Opera, Yu (Henan) Opera, etc. Chinese opera feathers comprehensiveness, virtuality and stylization and it tells an entire story by mixing singing, speaking, acting and fighting together.

History of development
In primitive society, village formed by clan produced the original song and dance. With the gradual growth of the clan, dance and song also gradually improved and developed. Chinese opera got a leap development and opera art gradually came into being. Zaju in Song Dynasty Yuanben in Jin Dynasty had laid the foundation for the Yuan Zaju. During Yuan Dynasty, Yuan Zaju emerges the state of prosperity.

In middle-Ming Dynasty, the legendary writer and scrip sprung up, among which Tang Xianzu made the greatest achievement. At that time, Kunqu opera rose in south of China. In the early of Qing Dynasty, Peking opera took shape under the booming of local operas. Later, Peking opera developed towards nationwide, especially popular in Beijing, Shanghai. Chinese opera was pushed into a new level.

Kun Opera
Kun opera, the oldest opera in China, originated in 14 century in Suzhou, China. Kun opera is well-known elegant word, euphemistical tune and exquisite performance. Bamboo flute and Sanxian are primary accompaniment of musical instruments. Kun Qu was listed as The Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. , . are three representative works of Kun opera.

Peking Opera
Peking opera, considered as the quintessence of Chinese culture, combines mine, dance, music, vocal performance and acrobatics. Its tune is centered on Xipi and Erhuang, accompanies on Huqin, drum and gong. Characters in Peking opera consists of Sheng, Dan, Jing, Mo and Chou.
