Description: Nu (怒族), with an population of 37,523, mainly distributes in Yunnan province such as Lushui, Fugong and Dulong and Nu Autonomous County of Gongshan.

Religion: Nu people consider that everything in the universe has spirituality such as wind, rain, sun, moon, star, mountain, tree, stone and so on.
Clothing Character: Most of the clothes are made from linen. Generally, women wear long and wide robe, sewing a red cloth at the joint between the front and back. Young girls like to wrap a embroidered waistband outside the robe. They like to wear headwear and breast ornament made of coral, agate, jade, shell, pearl and silver coin. Men grow long hair, wrapped by a blue turban.
Food Culture: Nu nationality takes two meals a day, with corn as staple food. Slabstone Baba is the specialty. Take a 1-cm wide slabstone as pot, after heated, bake corn paste on it. Green vegetables, radish, chili, bamboo shoot, wild lily, etc. are common. Women do not take heart and lung of animal before the age of 40. They are also skilled in wine, among which Gudu wine is the most distinctive. In daily life, they take honey instead of sugar.
Festivals: In old days, Nu nationality celebrated the New Year every three years. Later, under the influence of other nationalities, they spend the Spring Festival once a year. Before the New Year, they make lots of preparation including cleaning, killing pig, boiling wine, making baba, etc.. At the first night of the New Year, the elders are invited for dinning. The first bowl of meal in the New Year is taken by dog. Don not drop in from the first day to the third day.
Torch festival, New Rice festival and offering the mountain are also their festivals. Offering the mountains is held on the 4th or 5th day of the lunar January, only males participating in. Fresh Flower festival is the traditional day of Nu nationality in Gongshan, in Yunnan province.
Building: The house of Nu people is bamboo building with earth as wall and stone as roof. Its first layer is used to raise livestock and the second layer for housing. They lay a board on the top of the crossbeam to store grain or tools.
Arts: Singing is the most popular social activity in Nu folk. On festivals or big occasions, Nu people express their happy through singing. The local dance is different from the environment and ancestors. It still keeps much ancient cultural character because of the history, society, nature and religion.
