Description: Uzbek nationality (乌孜别克族) is an ancient ethnic minority of China, whose ancestor is Iranian and Turki. With a population of 14,000, Uzbek mainly distributes in Gujia, Tacheng, Urumqi, Kashgar, Shache, Kagilik and Uzbek County in Xinjiang province.

Clothing Character: Little flower hat is popular with Uzbek people of all ages. Little flower hats, with edge angle or not, are embroidered patterns of geogetric figure and flowers on the top and all sides.
In spring and summer, Uzbek women put on wide colorful dress, fitted with necklace, bracelet and finger ring. They like to wear overcoat made of furs in winter. Uzbek men prefer white shirt embroidered geometric patterns on the collar and cuff.
Food Culture: Uzbek nationality eats three meals a day with wheaten food as staple food, among which naan is the most common. Milk tea is the essential drinking in their daily life.
Festivals: As same as the other Islam, Uzbek views Aid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha as the most ceremonious festivals. In addition, Naulusi festival, the spring festival of Uzbek nationality, is the most solemn. On that day, people gather together in terms of village to have dinner, dance and sing.
Custom: Uzbek pays more attention to courtesy and respect for the elderly. According to the convention, wedding is held in the bride’s family. In Uzbek family, marriage should be based on the principle of elder first and younger latter.
Arts: Uzbek is good at dancing and singing. They have various traditional music such as song-dance music, rap music and classic music. Dutar, rawap and tambur are traditional stringed instruments. Uzbek women are skilled in embroidery. Most of Uzbek architecture feather with Middle Asia’s style, built with wood and soil. Uzbek in South Xinjiang live in quadratic earth house.
The wall is thick enough to keep warm in winter and cool in summer. They usually set up grape canopy in front of the house, where is a cool activity place in summer. Uabek in North Xinjiang are used to living in yurt that is in circular form in upper part and cylindrical in lower part. It occupies an area of 30 square meters with a height of 3 meters. This kind of yurt can remove at random, suitable for migrating.
