\u00a0Basically visiting the Roaring Tiger Rock takes about\u00a0two hours, and one hour for viewing A Thread of Sky. The two attractions combined will take you half day. On the morning of September 05, 2011, we took a rickshaw\u00a0from Wuyishan Holiday Resort<\/a><\/span> and got to Wuyi Palace, where\u00a0we took\u00a0the shuttle bus for the entrance to the Roaring Tiger Rock.<\/p>\n

<\/span>We took the shuttle bus at the bus terminal at Wuyi Palace for Roaring Tiger Rock. Only the shuttle buses owned by Wuyishan\u00a0Scenery are allowed to be in operation. No other vehicles are\u00a0permitted to do\u00a0business in Wuyishan Scenic Area.<\/p>\n

<\/span>We took the shuttle bus at the bus terminal at Wuyi Palace for Roaring Tiger Rock.<\/p>\n

<\/span>We started to climb in a loop trail on the stone paved or\u00a0rock carved\u00a0steps to the top of Roaring Tiger Rock. The Roaring Tiger Rock is a desk-typed hill with steep cliffs at the sea level of 424.2 meters. Hiking on the zigzag trails makes people feel as if ascending to the sky.<\/p>\n

<\/span>The legends has it that an\u00a0immortal rode a roaring tiger on\u00a0a rock, hence the name of Roaring Tiger Rock. Actually the sound of the tiger roaring comes from a rock cave blown by the mountain wind, which caused the sound similar to the roaring of a tiger.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Sedan chairs service is\u00a0available for those who don’t have strong legs at the cost RMB 500 for a round trip.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Soon we found a hike trail map carved in the rock at the starting point for a loop hike starting to climb up\u00a0the treacherous hero hill and then walking down from other side of the hill.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Climbing up the Tiger Roaring Rock through the Hero Hill was the most challenging leg of our hike around the hill. If you have a faint heart, don’t hike on this trail. Basically it was quite safe for the hike since the steps were firm carved in the rock and stone railings were solid.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

On the top, we had a better view of the surrounding peaks and hill.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Where was the Tiger Roaring Rock? It was very strange, on the <\/span>hill top, we didn’t find any sign pointing to the Rock. Later we knew the hill we had just reached<\/span>\u00a0was the Tiger Roaring Rock. We continued to walk till we came <\/span>across\u00a0a sightseeing platform where again we had a panoramic view of the peaks in <\/span>Wuyishan Mountains.<\/p>\n

Was that the cave producing the roaring tiger sound propelled by the mountain wind? We were not quite sure. Now the cave was now used\u00a0as a temple, Taoist or Buddhist? <\/span><\/div>\n

We walked down along the cemented ladders attached to the rock.<\/p>\n

<\/span>On the hillside of the Tiger Roaring Rock, we met <\/span>Godess of Mercy carved on the cave turned temple – <\/span>Tian Cheng Temple\u00a0which was first <\/span>built in 1707. <\/span>Tian Cheng literally means “Made by Heaven”.<\/p>\n

After visiting the Tian Cheng Temple, we continue to trek down the Roaring Tiger Rock.<\/span><\/div>\n

Finishing the loop trail hike around the Roaring Tiger Rock, we walked through a green tea tree field, which belonged to\u00a0a tea selling company.<\/span><\/div>\n
