Lhatse County is located 150km southwest of <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/shigatse-travel\/shigatse-trip-my-trip-to-shigatse-city\/\">Shigatse City<\/a><\/span> <\/strong>and 90km northeast of Tingri County. Both the national highways 318 and 219 pass through Lhatse County with 318 down to Tingri and Zhangmu, 219 to West Tibet and Yecheng in Xinjiang Province. The Yarlung Zangbo River also winds its way through Lhatse County. Lhatse County is of\u00a0geographic and strategic importance.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Administratively Lhatse has two towns (Lhatse Town and\u00a0Quxia Town), 9 Townships with 482 natural villages. Lhatse County was established in December 1959 with its seat at Lhatse Town. In July, 1968, the Quxia\u00a0Town\u00a0became the seat of Lhatse county. So if you are interested in visiting Sakya Monastery, you can make a side trip to Sakya Monastery here, a round trip with 60km. We didn&#8217;t stop and entered Lhatse County.<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>In Lhatse County, two important roads are met with one road\u00a0going to Zhangmu (317KM) and another to\u00a0Shiquanhe County in Ali Region\u00a0(1072km) in West Tibet.\u00a0People are supposed to have\u00a0their Aliens\u2019 Travel Permit checked at the checkpoint of Lhatse.
