We choose Gyantse Kitchen for our lunch. Actually this restaurant mainly offers Nepalese food. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ABC of Gyantse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gyantse (or Jiangzi) is now a county under the administration of Shigatse Prefecture. The Gyantse Town is located 250km southwest of Lhasa and 100km southeast of Shigatse. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It takes about 5 hours to drive from Lhasa to Gyantse and 2 hours to drive from Gyantse to Shigatse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"348\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gyantse-map.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27103\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gyantse-map.jpg 580w, https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gyantse-map-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><figcaption>The Location of Gyantse County (Google Map)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Gyantse is normally considered the third largest town and historically one of the most important regions in Tibet. The main road in Gyantse is named \u201cShanghai Road\u201d in praise of the&nbsp;efforts made&nbsp;Shanghai government. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">People and Weather in Gyantse <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The majority of the residents are Tibetans, accounting for 98%. Other ethnic groups include Han and Hui. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the seventh national Census, as of midnight on November 1, 2020, the permanent population of Jiangze County ( Gyantse ) is 68,650.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"387\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/local-people-in-Gyantse.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27107\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/local-people-in-Gyantse.jpg 580w, https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/local-people-in-Gyantse-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><figcaption>The local Tibetan villagers in Gyantse County<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Gyantse County belongs to plateau temperate semi-arid monsoon climate zone with distinct dry and wet seasons. It has abundant and concentrated rain in summer, warm and wet, and sufficient sunshine and strong solar radiation in winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The daily temperature difference is big but the annual temperature difference is small, and the frost-free period is short. Annual sunshine hours 3189.8 hours, annual frost-free period of about 110 days, annual precipitation 291.1 mm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Attractions in Gyantse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Gyantse is a must to visit place for most first time travelers in Tibet. People either go from Lhasa to Gynatse or go from Shigatse to Gyantse, or from the Nepalese and Chinese border city \u2013 Zhangmu Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gyantse lies in the north of the middle section of Nyang Chu River (\u5e74\u695a\u6cb3\uff09, a tributary of Yula Tsangpo River and surrounded by the continous mountains in the north and south. The major attractions in Gyantse include Gyantse Dzong Fort ( \u6c5f\u5b5c\u5b97\u5c71), the Palcho Monastery \uff08\u767d\u5c45\u5bfa\uff09and Palha Manor \uff08\u5e15\u62c9\u5e84\u56ed).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gyanstse is&nbsp;full of&nbsp;fertile land with the&nbsp;Nyang Chu River running to the south of Gyantse from west to east.&nbsp;Gyantse is a much developed agricultural county, which is acclaimed as the hometown of barley in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dominating sight in Gyantse is the Gyantse Dzong  perched on a high hill in the west of the town.&nbsp;&nbsp;Basically you can see it wherever you go in the downtown of Gyantse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"580\" height=\"335\" src=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gyantse-Zong.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27108\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gyantse-Zong.jpg 580w, https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Gyantse-Zong-300x173.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 580px) 100vw, 580px\" \/><figcaption> Gyantse Dzong Fort ( \u6c5f\u5b5c\u5b97\u5c71)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>After lunch, we are arranged to visit Palha Manor, 2km in the southwest of Gyantse town. It once belonged to one of the three nobilities in Tibet. The manor once had a senior butler, outside butler and inner butler.
