Yellow River is the second longest river in China\u00a0estimated length of 5,464 kilometers after Yangtze River<\/span>.<\/a> Its headwaters of this mighty river\u00a0originates from Kunlun Mountains in northwestern Qinghai Province, the\u00a0west of China.<\/p>\n

It winds its way passing nine provinces and autonomous regions – Qinghai<\/a><\/span>, Gansu,\u00a0Ningxia<\/span>,<\/a> Inner Mongolia,<\/a><\/span> Shanxi, Shaanxi, Henan and Shandong<\/a>,<\/span> and finally empties into the Bohai Sea in the east of Shandong Province.\u00a0Total basin area is 742,443\u00a0km\u00b2.<\/p>\n

It flows the Loess Plateau in its middle section and carry large amount of sand on its way down to the lower reaches of the mighty river, making the river appearing yellow, hence the name of Yellow River.<\/p>\n

Yellow River is the cradle of Chinese civilization and the spiritual home of the Chinese people. For thousands of years, the Yellow River has been\u00a0admired by\u00a0great poets,\u00a0artists, as well as by\u00a0ordinary people. The Yellow River is the symbol of the Chinese nation, the spirit of the Chinese people and more importantly, civilization itself.<\/p>\n

Yellow River nurtures a lot town and cities including such big cities as Lanzhou,<\/a><\/span> Yinchuan<\/span>, Baotou<\/span>,<\/a> Zhengzhou<\/span> <\/a>and Jinnan<\/a><\/span>. So if you are interested in seeing and feeling the giant river, you may go to these cities. Most of the cities have developed an area or a park to represent the Yellow River culture.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>Yellow River Mother Sculpture is\u00a0located at the south bank of Yellow River in\u00a0the city\u00a0of Lanzhou<\/span>. It\u00a0is the regarded as best of its kind in China.<\/p>\n

The sculpture has the length of 6 meters and height of 2.6 meters with\u00a0more than 40 tons. The whole sculpture\u00a0comprises a mother and a baby.<\/p>\n

The mother with long hair, slim figure, lying on the undulated water looks happy and kind. On her breast holds a small kid who bears naive smile. Yellow River Mother Sculpture reflects the long history and culture of Gansu Province.<\/p>\n

At\u00a0the sea level of over 1600 meters and on the loess plateau, the city of Lanzhou is located in a narrow valley extending from east to west for about 20km and bound by the mountains in the north and south.<\/p>\n
