ABC of Wangjiang Pavilion Park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wangjiang Pavilion Park is one of the famous historical and traditional cultural sites in Chengdu along with Wuhou Shrine<\/a> and Du Fu Thatched Cottage<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park was originally built in Ming and Qing dynasties in commermoration of Xue Tao (768 \u2013 832), a famous poetess in Tang Dynasty. She was versatile and pretty. She wrote over 500 poems, She was greatly admired by her contemporaries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bamboos will catch your eyes when you enter the park. Xue loved bamboos very much. Therea are over 150 kinds of bamboos in memory of Xue Tao. The bamboos garden in Wangjiang Tower Park is the best and finest one in Chengdu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a few renowned ancient buildings of Qing Dynasty ( 1644 \u2013 1911 ) in the park, including Chongli Pavilion, Brocade Washing Pavilion, Poems Chanting Pavilion\uff0cHuan Jian Pavilion etc. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

So actually Wangjiang Pavilion Park is named after a group of the ancient pavilions overlooking Jinjiang River in the park. The park is also often translated as “Wangjiang Tower Park”. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the several “River Viewing” pavilions, Chongli Pavilion is the tallest with the spectacular view. “Chongli”(\u5d07\u4e3d\uff09literally means ” tall and pretty”. It is over 30 meters high, with four layers – the upper two layers for the octagonal, the lower two layers for the quadrangle. It has a gilt top, a yellow roof ridge, with green tiles, red columns, and high angle eaves. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to get there and Entrance fees<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As its name \u201cWangjiang\u201d (River Viewing) suggests, so Wangjiang Pavilion Park is located in the southeast of downtown Chengdu, standing along Jinjiang River (Brocade River), south of Jiuyanqiao Bar Street<\/a>, just next to Sichuan University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are three gates to the park \u2013 North, West and South. You are advised to enter the park through the north entrance walking from Jiuyanqiao Bar Street <\/a>along Jinjiang River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Public Transport<\/strong>
Bus lines: Bus No. 19, 35, 335 and alight at Wangjiang Lou Park (Wangjiang Pavilion Park).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Garden area is free of charge;
Cultural relics reserve area: 20 yuan per person<\/p>\n\n\n\n
