Yangsheng Ravine, or Health Preserving Ravine, or officially translated as Health Care Canyon, is located within Xiangshuihu Scenic Area in Huairou Disgtrict, 80km north of the center Beijing.<\/p>\n

A rock stands at the entrance carved with the four Chinese characters written by Lian Zhan, a politician in Taiwan.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There is a\u00a0stream flowing through the\u00a02-km\u00a0densely forested ravine\u00a0 year by\u00a0year, which has\u00a0naturally formed\u00a09 different size pools,\u00a0unfolding a picture of cascading waterfalls.<\/p>\n

<\/span>We went there just one day after the second snowfall in Beijing on Feb 15, 2011. The waterfalls were still partly frozen presenting a stunning view of the cascading.<\/span><\/div>\n

Yangsheng Ravine literally means “Health Preserving Ravine. It is such named because there are over 50 poems and adages carved on stones or rocks in the ravine, which were\u00a0written by famous Chinese traditional doctors,\u00a0advising people how to preserve health and how to live a long healthy life. T<\/p>\n

here are also\u00a0some rock statues of famous medical scientists\u00a0standing in te ravine like Li Shizhen, Wang Bing, Sun Simiao and so on.<\/span><\/div>\n

\nAt the end of the 2-km ravine, you will find a mountain path on your left side leading on up to Luanling Great Wall<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and view the lofty Lianyunling Great Wall<\/span><\/a>, then walk down to Moshikou Pass<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Xiangshuihu Great Wall<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/span>It is a pleasant hiking trail: Walking up through\u00a0Yangsheng Ravine – clamber up the Luanling Great Wall<\/span><\/a>, walk close to Lianyunling Great Wall<\/span><\/a>, finally walk down to Moshikou Pass<\/span><\/a>\u00a0, or continue to climb Xiangshuihu Great Wall<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n
