Though eager to return home for the family reunion on this special holiday, we all expect to visit Jiangjunguan Village and hike around the Jiangjunguan Great Wall, our last inspection spot on the 5-day Great Wall Tour.<\/p>\n<p>After 20-minute driving from Huangsongyu Reservior, we are now at the crossroad of Kaoshanjibeikou (\u9760\u5c71\u96c6\u5317\u53e3) with east leading to Huangyaguan Great Wall 30km, south to Jinhai Lake, and north to our destination Jiangjunguan (\u5c06\u519b\u5173) 8km.<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4449\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4449\" style=\"width: 560px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/beijing-great-wall\/hiking-around-jiangjunguan-great-wall-and-jiangjunguan-village\/attachment\/at-the-crossroad\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-4449\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-4449\" title=\"At the crossroad of Kaoshanjibeikou\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/At-the-crossroad.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/At-the-crossroad.jpg 560w, https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/At-the-crossroad-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4449\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At the crossroad of Kaoshanjibeikou<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span>Actually Jiangjunguan Village is now divided into two parts &#8211; The original old village and the new village. We have just driven past the new village, where all the villagers live in the brand new two-storey buildings. Most of the famlies in the new village are engaged in rural tourism, providing housing and eating to the urban residents driving to the countrysides on the weekends.<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>Jiangjunguan Village<\/p>\n<p>We skip over the new village and directly enter the old one. The ancient Jiangjunguan Village is a standard mountain village lying on the flat and open place in the valley with its west side extending to the main road linking Beijing and Hebei Province. This place used to be an important pass with military importance, the reason why the fort was built here.<\/p>\n<p>It is said Jiangjunguan Great Wall is the first Great Wall pass (fort) in Beijing from the east. The wall surface looks bare and rough.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; font-size: small;\">Jiangjunguan Great Wall is fitfully linked to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/china-travel\/great-wall-of-china\/how-to-visit-huangyaguan-great-wall\/\">Huangyaguan Great Wall <\/a>(under jurisdiction of Tianjin)\u00a0in the east. It is said that it takes about 18 hours&#8217; hike between the two bits of the Wall.
