While the city has developed and many have moved from living within hutongs to high-rise apartments, there are still some residents living within hutongs, particularly the older generation. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/hutong\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: #2200c1;\"><strong>Beijing Hutongs<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">\u00a0are also a trademark of New <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.beijingpage.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Beijing<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">.<\/span> There are many of which, while retaining the gray brick facades, showcase the trendier, hipper side of Beijing. Wudaoying Hutong is one of them.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">Last sunday I visited Wudaoying Hutong by the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/attraction_guide\/lama_temple.php\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana; color: #2200c1;\"><strong>Lama Temple<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"> for the first time. As a frequenter of Houhai and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/travel_blog\/nan_luo_gu_xiang.php\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><strong>Nanluoguxiang Hutongs<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">, I felt quite at home when walking on the narrow lane of Wudaoying. I found here and there small construction sites implying this lane was undergoing big change or gentrification. Will the unreasonable gentrification fall on Wudaoying? Hopefuly this will not occure, and not follow the road that the empty Qianmen Dajie has taken. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">There are many of caf\u00e9s and shops and more are being built in the lane. The local government has assisted in developing Wudaoying Hutong into a second <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/travel_blog\/nan_luo_gu_xiang.php\"><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\"><strong>Nanluoguxiang Hutongs<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-family: Verdana;\">, further protecting and developing hutongs. <\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family:
