On\u00a0your way to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/hiking_tours\/simatai_great_wall.php\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/hiking_tours\/simatai_great_wall.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simatai Grea Wall <\/a>or at the end of your hiking Simatai Great Wall,\u00a0 you may go to visit\u00a0 the relics of <strong>Simatai Castle\u00a0(or Simatai Fortress \u53f8\u9a6c\u53f0\u57ce\u5821)<\/strong>\u00a0for a few minutes to better understand the historical and military information on Simatai Great Wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Simatai&nbsp;Fortress was built during the reign of Emperor Wanli ( 1573 -1620 ) in Ming Dynasty ( 1368 &#8211; 1644 ). It was a&nbsp;large fort&nbsp;where the&nbsp;soldiers &nbsp;and their family members&nbsp;stationed&nbsp;and lived at the foot of&nbsp;Simatai Great Wall. The old Simatai&nbsp;Fort was located just south of Simatai Great Wall with about a few hundred meters&#8217;&nbsp;walking distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The\u00a0old <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simatai Village<\/a> was\u00a0originally developed from this\u00a0Simatai Old Castle. At its prime time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simatai Village<\/a> had\u00a05 natural sub villages dotted the valley or the hillslope at the foot of Simatai Great Wall. Most of the\u00a0villagers in the\u00a0No.01 Sub Natural Village used to\u00a0lived within the Simatai Fortress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the year 2010, the local government started to implement the policy of &nbsp;&#8220;Building Socialist New village\u201c by making use of&nbsp;the huge project of building Gubei Water Town on the original area where the 5 sub natural villages were located, a project with an investment&nbsp;of over 4 billion yuan by CYTS and a few other investors combined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 2012 all the 1400 villagers in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simatai Village <\/a>moved to the new appartments or townhouses\u00a0about 1.5km east of the original mountaineous areas with the financial compensations from the developers and the local government\u00a0. All new buildings in the new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/beijing-travel\/simatai-village\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Simatai Village<\/a> were\u00a0constructed by the developers of\u00a0 Gubei Water Town.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On my recent trip to Simatai Great Wall, I&#8217;ve snapped a few pictures of Simatai Fortress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the north gate to Simatai Castle.&nbsp; There&nbsp;exists a traditional wall screen in front of the entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/This-is-the-north-gate-to-Simatai-Castle.-There-is-a-traditional-wall-screen-in-front-of-the-entrance..jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"560\" height=\"373\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/This-is-the-north-gate-to-Simatai-Castle.-There-is-a-traditional-wall-screen-in-front-of-the-entrance..jpg\" alt=\"This is the north gate to Simatai Castle.
