Qikou<\/strong><\/a> is\u00a0an ancient port town on the west bank of Yellow River,\u00a0approxi 240km southwest of Taiyuan and 190km west of Pingyao.\u00a0Many tourists\u00a0 on their Shanxi tour<\/strong><\/a> would\u00a0visit\u00a0Qikou Town<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on a side trip from Pingyao tour<\/strong>.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0In addition\u00a0 to visiting Qikou Town, a well-preserved ancient town in the style of Ming and Qing Dynasty (1368 \u2013 1911),\u00a0 its nearby prestine villages like Lijiashan Village<\/strong><\/a> is also one of your highlights on your trip to Qikou.\u00a0 It is\u00a0 a long-forgotten ancient settlement of cave dwellings, a big draw for foreign visitors.\u00a0 For more information on Qikou and Lijiashan Village,\u00a0 check Qikou Travel Guide<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 and Lijiashan Travel\u00a0 Tips<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Qikou Town has\u00a0 great spots to watch Sunrise and Sunset.\u00a0 If you are a big fan of Sunrise or Sunset photography,\u00a0 I’d like to introduce the best places in Qikou Town\u00a0either to\u00a0see the Sunrise or the Sunset.<\/p>\n

Let’s first watch the Sunrise for Qikou.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contact your hotel manager for hiring a local van ( approx.RMB 60) to send you to the top of Lijiashan Hill,\u00a0south of Qikou Town.\u00a0 On Lijiashan Hill,\u00a0 you will have a perfect spot to view the rising sun\u00a0 if you are lucky enough to have a sunny day.\u00a0\u00a0Standing on\u00a0a moud on the hill, in a distance, on your left side (west) is the Yellow River;\u00a0 before you is the ancient port town – Qikou Town;\u00a0 on your right side in a distance\u00a0are the undulating hills waiting for the coming of the rising sun.<\/p>\n

Mr. Chen,\u00a0 my driver drives skifully along the narrow mountain road and soon I find I’m standing on a mound by the mountain road, waiting for the rising sun from the east.<\/p>\n

On the west and in front of me in a distance is the Yellow River and Qikou Town. Between Lijiashan Hill where I’m standing and Qikou Town is the Qiushui River.<\/p>\n

The best place to watch the sunset in Qikou<\/strong><\/p>\n

Basically there are two places to see the sunset for Qikou Town-\u00a0 One is on the Black Dragon Temple and\u00a0the other is the\u00a0moutain road high above and behind Qikou Town. I personally prefer the mountain road behind the town.\u00a0 The setting sun glow is reflected on the Yellow River, accompanied by the cooking smoke coming from the houses in the town, a peaceful and happy place rarely seen in big cities.<\/p>\n
