Wangquanyu Great Wall lies to the west of Beijing Knot at\u00a0Jiankou Great Wall<\/strong> <\/a>and east of\u00a0\u00a0Lvanling Great Wall<\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 Wangquanyu Great Wall is named after the the village with the same name\u00a0– Wangquanyu Village at the Wangquanyu Valley.<\/p>\n

Wangquan Village is situated about 90km to the north of downtown Beijing. To get\u00a0 to Wangquan Village, you first drive along Jingcheng Expressway<\/strong><\/a> and get off at Huairou District. Then continue to drive along the mountain path between Mutianyu Great Wall <\/a>and Ming Tombs<\/a>.\u00a0 Seeing a signboard pointing to Wangquanyu (\u65fa\u6cc9\u5cea) or Xiangshuihu(\u54cd\u6c34\u6e56), turn right to the north direction, and soon you will reach Wangquanyu Village.<\/p>\n

Wangquanyu Great Wall is a wild and unrestored, not long, only\u00a02 km with 8 watchtowers: 6 towers in the east of Wangquanyu valley and 2 towers in the west.\u00a0 So the wall is divided into two sectons – East Section\u00a0(6 towers)\u00a0and West Section (2 towers ).\u00a0 You may hike\u00a0the wall\u00a0from Beijing Knot\u00a0 (Jiankou Great Wall)\u00a0, or you may hike up directly from Wangquanyu Village.\u00a0 Hiking up Wangquanyu Great Wall from the valley could be very tiring and challenging due to its big drop of 390m.<\/p>\n

Wangquanyu Great Wall was built intermittently for 176 years from 1404 (Yongle\u00a02rd Year) to 1580 (Wanli\u00a08th Year) in Ming Dynasty.\u00a0 This unrestored wall looks exteriorly fresh and well preserved, but once you are on the wall, you will see bushes, saplings, overgrown and ruined. It goes in and out of the dense bushes.<\/p>\n
