Plan your Great Wall tour<\/strong><\/a>? If you are interested in hiking a wild and unrestored section of the Great Wall,\u00a0 Shixiaguan Great Wall<\/a>l<\/strong> is your ideal choice.\u00a0 At the time of my writing, Shixiaguan Great Wall is the only unrestored Great Wall that is officially open to the public\u00a0 known as Ruined Badaling Great Wall (\u516b\u8fbe\u5cad\u53e4\u957f\u57ce).<\/p>\n

Shixiaguan Great Wall ( or Ruined Badaling Great Wall ) is located 5km to the southwest of the restored Badaling Great Wal<\/strong><\/a>l. This section of the Great Wall is about 8km long,\u00a0\u00a0meandering along\u00a0the mountain up and down with steep slopes.\u00a0 You are required to scramble\u00a0all the way along the north side of the mountain, then hike down the steep slopes of the southeast mountain.<\/p>\n

You may take Bus 919 from Deshengmen Bus Station or\u00a0 s trains from Beijing North Railway Station and get to Yanqing District, where you hire\u00a0 a local taxi or van to reach Shixiaguan Great Wall.<\/p>\n

First you need to walk along the stone paved steps up to the Wall snaking up to the mountain peak.<\/p>\n
