Plan your Inner Mongolia tour<\/a>? Located in the northeast of Inner Mongolia, Manzhouli is the largest border crossing between China and Russia. Manzhouli is a sub-prefecture-level city under the jurisdiction of Hulunbuir City in Inner Mongolia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ABC of Manzhouli<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Manzhouli City is named after the same name railway station of the Dongqing Railway which was constructed between 1901 and 1903 by the Russian Tsar. The Dongqing Railway started from Manzhouli and ended at Dalian passing by Harbin. The Manzhouli was the first station within China of the former Dongqing Railway and later became the name of the city that has developed from the border trade and business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manzhouli has the mixed folk custom of the three countries including China, Russia and Mongolia, a blend of Chinese and Western cultures. The City is teeming with unique buildings of Russian, European, Mongolian and Chinese styles<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Layout of Manzhouli City<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now the layout of Manzhouli city center resembles a chessboard with all kinds of chess-like European-style buildings scattered along the streets. In 2007, all the 162 buildings lined on the 12 streets in the city center were renovated and upgraded, which has created the European style featuring the harmony between the outstanding single buildings and the uniqueness of each street.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The No.1 Street (\u4e00\u9053\u8857) features Russian style; the No.2 Street (\u4e8c\u9053\u8857) Gothic style; No.3 Street (\u4e09\u9053\u8857) French Classic style; the No.4 and 5 Streets (s\u56db\u9053\u8857\u548c\u4e94\u9053\u8857) Italian Renaissance style. Manzhouli is a delicate and exquisite city with elegant streets where you walk shoulder to shoulder with Russians and full of the ancient Greek and Roman buildings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the signboards of the street-front-stores are in Chinese; Russian or Mongolian. Walking on the streets in Manzhouli, you have the feeling of being in an exotic city in a foreign country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Manzhouli does gives us a pleasant surprise in an era when China is bogged down in the situation where more and more Chinese cities look the same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
