Azure sky, comfy weather, and sweet mooncakes, all just on a single day &#8211; Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival September 22, 2010. <\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The name of Mid-Autumn Festival is a little bit too official, I&#8217;d like call it moon festival or mooncake day. It is the second most important festival in China, just after\u00a0<a onmousedown=\"return clk(0,'','','','2','','0CBYQFjAB')\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/trip_advisors\/chinese_holidays_festivals\/chinese_spring_festival.php\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #1111cc;\">Spring Festival, Chinese Lunar New Year\u00a0<\/span><\/a> ( similar to Christmas in the west ). <\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The exact date of Mid-Autumn\u00a0Festival\u00a0is set on the\u00a0fifteenth day of the eighth month according to Chinese lunar calendar, which falls on the changeable\u00a0dates\u00a0within\u00a0early September and early October\u00a0in the Gregorian calendar. The next 5 years&#8217;\u00a0Mid-Autumn occurs on the following days:<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">2011: September 12<br \/>\n2012: September 30<br \/>\n2013: September 19<br \/>\n2014: September 8<br \/>\n2015: September 27<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Mid-Autumn Day is similar to Thanksgiving Day in the United States and Canada, a time for family reunion. This year, though separated with our only son in Ottawa and aged parents in <a onmousedown=\"return clk(0,'','','','11','','0CEMQFjAK')\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/hangzhou_tour\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"color: #551a8b;\">Hangzhou <\/span><\/strong><\/a>, we don&#8217;t feel lonely in Beijing\u00a0with the bright and full moon hanging high in the sky linking all of us as a Chinese proverb goes &#8220;Wish us a long life so as to share the beauty of this graceful moonlight, even thousands miles apart.. &#8220;. <\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\"><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1013\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1013\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Summer-Palace2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1013\" title=\"Summer Palace\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Summer-Palace2-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1013\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The main builings( Hall of Dispelling Clouds and Tower of Buddhist Incense ) perched on the hill north of the lake I take on the ferry dragon boat in the middle of Kunming Lake. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>For me, today is still a working day. As usual, I&#8217;m in office at 8:00am. But\u00a0not for\u00a0long,\u00a0I feel like an ant sitting on a hotpot, not because of the moon day today, but the unusually and extremely fine day &#8211; sunny and blue sky! I can sit no longer, go down\u00a0the stairs\u00a0to the underground parking lot and merrily drive my car directly to\u00a0<a onmousedown=\"return clk(0,'','','','1','','0CBIQFjAA')\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/attraction_guide\/summer_palace.php\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"color: #1111cc;\">Summer Palace<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 for photographing. <\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Though having been to<a onmousedown=\"return clk(0,'','','','1','','0CBIQFjAA')\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/attraction_guide\/summer_palace.php\" target=\"_blank\"><strong><span style=\"color: #1111cc;\">Summer Palace<\/span><\/strong><\/a>\u00a0 for several times before, I have never seen it under a blue sky. So today I have my dream come true. Like a hungry &#8220;beggar&#8221;, in two hours, I take over three hundreds pictures there! I choose two of these photos for you to share for\u00a0celebrate the moon day today.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">After a sumptuous supper, we habitually open a box of mooncakes with a rich variety of<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1015\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1015\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mooncakes1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1015\" title=\"Mooncakes\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Mooncakes1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1015\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A huge box of mooncakes produced by Daoxiangcun<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<font face=\"Arial\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"mceTemp\">\u00a0fillings\u00a0with sweetened red bean paste, lotus seeds, eggs&#8230;\u00a0Monncakes with lotus and eggs are my favorites. There are a huge choices of mooncakes on the mooncake market. We usually favor the mooncakes produced by\u00a0the century-old traditional the time-honored Daoxiangcun Foodstuffs Store. The store used to produce light snack served to the royal family or governmental officials in the Qing Dynasty.<\/div>\n<p><\/font><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">Walking after supper is one of my daily activities and today is no exception especially with my stomach loaded with\u00a0rich and oily\u00a0mooncakes. My walking hangout is Ming Dynasty Wall Relics Park, not far from my housing area. On this special evening, I take my camera with me for possible good shots. I walk along the ancient city wall under the full moon in a soft breeze. The moon tohight is the fullest and roundest in my memory album. I can&#8217;t help taking some pictures of the full moon.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">At the eastern tip of the city wall area, you find some local kite fliers fly glittering kites with beautiful lit tails! Kite flying<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1016\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1016\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/fly-kite1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-1016\" title=\"fly kite\" src=\"http:\/\/www.tour-beijing.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/fly-kite1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1016\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Local kite fliers fly glittering kites <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0originated as a Chinese tradition to mark the beginning of spring. Now kite flying is very popular among Beijingers with lots of innovations.<\/span><\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Arial;\">The Ming Dynasty\u00a0City Wall Relics\u00a0Park\u00a0was built on the one- kilometer-long ruins of ancient Beijing city walls, it was open to the public in May 2002. The rebuilding of the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) City Wall Relics Park is part of the Chinese capital&#8217;s effort to protect its historical relics.<\/span><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What a happy day today!
