We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Wuyishan Shopping
Wuyishan is the world heritage. Tourists will not let an empty backpack home. What to shop in Wuyishan Mountain? Where to buy and how to do shopping in Mt. Wuyishan? Main areas for shopping in Wuyishan are Songjie Street, Raft Pier of Xingcun Village, Sangu Resort and city area of Wuyishan. Songjie Street is an archaized street of Wuyi Palace in length of 300 meters. The architectures along this street are in the styles of Song Dynasty (960-1279). There are also many venders at the Raft Pier of Jiuqu Stream in Xingcun Village. What you can buy from these places are local special products and souvenirs.

Wuyishan Tea
Everywhere of Wuyishan is related with tea. There are tea trees from top to foot of the mountains. What mostly found in big stores or small shops is tea too. What most packed in backpack of tourists just the same is tea as well. Wuyishan Rock Tea is the general name of all Wuyishan tea, belonging to oolong. What Mt. Wuyishan major produced is oolong - 80% of the annual tea output. Gongfu black tea, which needs painstaking processes, is about 10% of the annual tea output in Huangshan. Green tea is about 7% of the output. Wuyishan oolong boasts the sweet and pure taste of black tea, but also the faint scent of the green tea. It is the titbit of tea. Dahongpao tea is the characteristic genus of Wuyishan famous tea. Dahongpao is composed of two main categories: Rougui and Shuixian (literally means Cinnamon and Narcissus).

Wuyishan Mushroom
Mushroom refers to Chinese black mushroom. The Chinese black mushroom contains a genus of special component- lentionione. So the black mushroom can throw of a particular aroma after frying or insolating. The Chinese black mushroom is not only a nice food, but also a fine medicine. It is good to stomach and liver. It is proved the mushroom amylose is at present one of the strongest regulator and immune system and it has marked cancer-resist nature. Mushroom can prevent hepatocirrhosis and arterosclerosis. Wuyishan mushroom is tender and has joyful faint scent. It tastes refreshing!

Wuyishan Banboo Shoot
Wuyishan bamboo shoot mainly refers to the dried bamboo shoot. It is another local special product in Wuyishan. Bamboo shoot is rich in protein, calcium, phosphor and so on. Places of Wuyishan such as Jinzhu and Shouyang are famous for best bamboo shoot. And Kuzhu bamboo shoot is also nice in taste. It is a wonderful dish for mountainous people. The bamboo shoot can be dried, pressed, pickled and so on many processing methods. Bamboo shoot after processing is not only good for preserving, but also is still nice in taste. It can be braised with meat, stir-fired with other ingredients and stewed into soup, etc.

Wuyishan Millets
Millets are regarded as the “standing grain for healthy life”. People take millets as fine food with abundant nutrition in summer time. Wuyishan has a long history of planting millets. Having millets is good to lung and spleen. Millets also have the function of relieving internal heat, dispelling rheumatism, and eliminating dropsy. It has efficient component to guard against cancer.

Wuyishan Chestnuts
Chestnut tree is a species of Chinese chinkapin with simple lanceolate leaves. The fruit is contained in a sharp-spiny bur. Each bur contains 2 to 4 nuts.
Fresh chestnut fruit produces much lower Kcalories than that of walnuts, almonds, other nuts and dried fruits. It contains very little fat and no gluten, but the carbohydrate content is as much as that of the wheat and rice and the chestnut has twice as much starch as that of the potato.
