Miyun Ambling and Hiking Trips

Miyun County is located about 80 Kilometers to the northeast of the downtown Beijing. It has an area of about 2,330 square kilometers. It is composed of 2 towns and 22 townships with a population of about about 420,000. Miyun is famous for its Miyun Reservoir, which was first constructed in 1958, one of the biggest reservoirs in North China, supplying Beijing residents with potable water.

It produces haws,chestnuts and walnuts. Miyun County is also regardes as a "scenic suburban park of mountains and rivers in Beijing." The famous Simatai Great Wall, and the ancient strategic military town of Gubeikou are located within Miyun County, as well as the roads and places visited by emperors in the past. It possesses the Wuling and Yunmeng mountain national forest parks and many more cultural and natural sites.

Major Attractions in Miyun

Gubeikou Great Wall
Gubeikou Great Wall is located in Miyun County, 140 kilometers away from downtown Beijing. The main part of the Gubeikou Wall was first built in the Ming Dynasty 1368. It goes for over 20 kilometers and comprises of the four parts: Wohushan, Panlongshan, Jinshanling and Simatai.

Hei Long Tan
Heilongtan is a renowned sightseeing place in the suburb of Beijing. Its mostly famous for its gorgeous water falls. Heilongtan houses many water falls in different sizes, creating a spectacular view for this scenic spot.

Jinshanling Great Wall
Jinshanling Great Wall is located about 130 km from downtown Beijing. To its east stands the Simatai Great Wall. Jinshangling Great Wall was named after the mountain called Jinshan Mountains. The Jinshanling Great Wall was first constructed built in the Ming Dynasty.

Miyun Reservoir
Miyun Reservoir, located 100 km northeast of Beijing City, is a mountain valley reservoir. It was built in September, 1960 and is the largest reservoir in Beijing area.

Simatai Great Wall & Tours
The Simatai section of the Great Wall is located in the northeast of Miyun County,120 kilometers from downtown Beijing. It was first built in the early Hongwu years (1368-1398) of the Ming Dynasty.

The First Waterfall of Beijing Capital
Located at Miyun District of Beijing, the First Waterfall of Beijing is about four kilometers from the Heilong Tan. The water from the natural stream of Yunmeng Mountain has formed the water of this waterfall.

White Dragon Pond
As the only old scenic spot, White Dragon Pond is lied on the outskirts of Beijing. There is a waterfall with 20-meter high, which is one of the three that form the three ponds.

Yunmengshan Great Wall

Yunmengshan National Forest Park
Lied at the border of Miyun District and Huairou District, Yunmenshan National Forest Park covers an area of about 2,200 hectares. With 90 percent of the area covered by a variety of trees, the park is characterized by luxuriant forests.
