We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Inner Mongolia Experience Tour

Set off to Baotou
We had breakfast at the same place as last night”s. As soon as we had finished our breakfast, we left for Baotao by passenger car immediately. It took us about 4 hours to arrive at Baotou City.

On the way from Gegentala Grassland to Baotou City

The guide told us a lot histories about Inner Mongolia to get through the long time

Lunch in Baotou Restaurant

To Kubuqi Desert in Baotou
After lunch, took bus to Kubuqi Desert and the trip to the desert took us about 1 hour. We were crossing the famous Yellow River, just kilometers before arriving at the Kubuqi Desert.

Yellow River Bridge

Kubuqi Desert means “the bowstring of arch” in the Mongolian language. The Kubuqi Desert is the closest desert to Beijing and it’s exactly what our expect a desert to be: lots of un-and-down sand dunes as far as the eye can see. It is sublime, beautiful and unique, and the fine golden grains glowed in the sun.

Desert Off-road Vehicle

Take a camel ride across the desert was quite an unforgettable experience. The largest animal of the desert is the camel. Camel is called as “the ship of the desert”. A local resident said, “The Kubuqi Desert is a land of death. There’s no getting out unless you ride a camel.”

We then rode back on camels back to another area, where we had a cheerful ride waiting for us, sand sliding. Sliding down a 45 degree slope from about 10 stories us, we all went down the slope in these wooden boards… It was great fun!

Have dinner in a local Mongolia restaurant. Mutton is a must for visitor, as you can hardly find better mutton else where in China. Roasted Whole sheep, a traditional dish of Inner Mongolia. Roasted Whole Sheep banquet has a complete ceremony full of Mongolian national customs. It is not only a feast of food but also a feast of folk culture of Mongolia. Receiving guests with Roasted Whole Sheep reflects the respected and sincere of the owner.

Give “Hada” to their honorable guest

Over the 2 days Inner Mongolia experience tour, we took the No.K90 overnight train back to Beijing. It’s a memorable trip.
