Old Shanghai Restaurant
Situated in Yu Garden, Old Shanghai Restaurant, also called “Rongshun Restaurant” is a famous restaurant in the local Shanghai culinary style. Dating back to Qing Dynasty, it is the oldest restaurant in local cuisine with more than 100 years old. Its name means the place Shanghai people often go to just like their own home. Most of its guests are Hongkong people, Occidental, Japanese as well as natives.
The design of the whole restaurant is elegance, warmth., but with reasonable price. It is well-known for cooking fish, shrimp, crab, eel, etc. In cooking, it pays more attention to the control of flames, rich flavor, original gravy and original taste. Its specialties are Eight-Jeweled Duck, Braised meat preserved in femented rice in casserole, Red-cooked hilsa herring and Kousansi (the mixture of three kinds of shredded vegetables), Quick-fried shrimp, Bamboo shoot eel pasty, etc.
