Itinerary
Arrival in Xining, the capital city of Qinghai Province. Be met and transferred to our designated hotel in Xining. Free for rest of the day.
After breakfast, you will have one full day tour to Qinghai Lake, the largest salt water lake in China. Cruise in the lake and visit Bird Island. On the way, you will have a stop to see the Mt. Sun and Moon, where the princess Wenchen threw the mirror down and married into the Tibetan area among the Tang Dynasty. Return to your hotel in Xining.
Visit Ta'er Monastery (Kumbum Monastery) in the town of Huangzhong 26km south of Xining, where is the birthplace of the founder of the Gelugpa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism - Tsongkhapa. The temple was later built in 1577. Then move on a 15-minute trip to the North Hill Temple to have a bird's-view of the city. Finally visit Qinghai Provincial Museum with a few silk road exhibitons and some amazing Stone Age artifacts. Then transferred to the train station to continue for your next destination - Zhongwei.
Visit Shapotou, 20 kilometers west of Zhongwei city, Shapotou is a 2,000 meters long and 100 meters high sand dune on the northern bank of the Yellow River. Shapotou Scenic Area is considered as one of the five most beautiful deserts in China, and is
widely regarded as the Capital of Sand. Then move on to Gao Temple. The Gao Temple is a temple complex originally built in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD).
Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Museum is a comprehensive-level museum that displays the Ningxia historical
artifacts, local customs, and art collections and mnay more.
Nanguan Mosque is one of the largest mosques in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. It is located in Yinchuan City and has a high position among the Hui people.
Western Xia Tombs - The Western Xia tombs is located at the foot of the Helan Mountains in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. The tomb area covers 9 imperial mausoleums and 250 tombs of imperial relatives and officials. The Western Xia state existed between 1038 and 1227, when it was finally taken over by the Mongols under Chingis Khan.
Ningxia Sand Lake Scenic Resort (Shahu) - The Sand Lake Scenic Resort is a nice site for holiday makers. The resort has a lake, sand dunes, fishing and is a great place to do some bird watching.
Transferred to Ningxia Railway Station or airport for your next destination.
