Pingyao Wen Miao (Temple of Confucius)
Pingyao Wen Miao is the earliest temple of Confucius, the best preserved temple complex, holding the largest statues of Confucian ancestors, the largest exhibition hall of the history of the Chinese imperial examinations, and the only special photograph museum. Wen Miao, reconstructed in 1163, is named the “small forbidden city”. Kuixing Tower is small and exquisite in the southeast of the outside city wall. It is high up to the sky, so on the top, you feel you are touching the stars.
As the story goes, the Number One Scholar started from Eastern Gate Tower, climbing Kuixing Tower, Wenchang Pavilion , crossing Yun Lufang, then worshiping Confucius.
Pingyao Wen Miao is the soul of Pingyao City, however, Dacheng Hall is viewed as its heart. Dacheng Hall has a history of 800 years, surrounded by stone balusters. The green colored glaze is shining
