We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Mt. Laoshan

Mt. Laoshan (崂山), situated in the east of Qingdao city, is the main mountain of Shandong Peninsula. Mt. Laoshan is the highest coastal mountain in China, peaking at 1132.7 meters. Occupying an area of 446 square kilometers, Mt. Laoshan consists of Giant Peak, Liuqing,Taiqing, Chessboard Stone, Yangkou, Beijiushui and Hualou Building. The best time to Mt. Laoshan is from May to October.

Taoism Culture
It is known as one of the birthplaces of Taoism. Since Spring and Autumn period, a crowd of self-cultivation gather in Mt. Laoshan. It was praised as “celestial mountain in East China Sea” in the late of the Warring State. The invasion of imperialist powers killed Taoist priest, destroyed temples and spoliated treasures during 1939 to 1943. After the Third Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, part of temples were reconstructed and normal religion activities were recovered.

Buddhist Culture
Buddhist was introduced in Mt. Laoshan about 1,700 years ago, which began in Wei and Jin Dynasties, prevailed in Sui and Tang Dynasties and declined in the late of Qing Dynasty. Chong Temple, the oldest temple in Mt. Laoshan, was viewed as the start of Buddhist in Mt. Laoshan. Huayan Temple, Stone Buddha Temple and Fahai Temple are known as three temples in Mt. Laoshan. In 1985, Fahai Temple and Huayan Temple were listed as Cultural Relics Preservation Unit in Qingdao.
