We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Norbulingka

Norbulingka(罗布林卡) is commonly known as the Summer Palace in Lhasa, located in the western suburbs of Lhasa. It is the Dalai Lama's summer palace and it is a place for worship, of leisure vacation and watching architecture of the Tibetan palace.

This beautiful garden was built in the middle of 18th century when the seventh Dalai Lama was in power. The garden is the place that they deal with government and religious activities.

The park has more than 100 species of plants. There are not only common flowers and trees in the garden in the Lhasa area, but also has those been taken from the south of the northern foot of the Himalayas, as well as migration from the mainland or imported from abroad rare flowers. As a result, Norbulingka was called Highland Botanical Gardens. There are 374 rooms, is the largest and best scenery, most of the monuments man-made garden in Tibet. Norbulingka means baby garden.

Norbulingka whole garden is divided into three areas: the eastern front of the palace area includes the park entrance and the garden before Terrifying Three Realms Court; the central part of the core part of the palace area; the West is naturally rustic jungle featuring golden Linka. Norbulingka garden arrangement has not only the characteristics of the Tibetan plateau, but also draws on traditional techniques Mainland gardens, the use of buildings, rocks, water, forest group scene, creating a different mood.

In addition to a variety of plants in the park, there is a zoo in Norbulingka where used to be a petting zoo of the Dalai Lama. Nowadays, there still exists a variety of animals, many of them rare species such as the snow leopard.
