Lhasa Nightlife

Compared with other cities of China, the nightlife in Lhasa seems more low-key and simple to tourists and travelers in Lhasa. Nightlife activities in Lhasa are often limited to see Tibetan performances, sit around a table and chat with friend or stroll around a night market. A few nightclubs are mainly frequented by locals.

Tianhai Night Market is the most famous night market for its coverall. Snacks gathers together from all parts of China, besides the Tibetan Restaurant, including Sinkiang Noodle with Sauce, Lanzhou Ramen, Sichuan Hotpot, Mutton Da Pai Dang, and so on, fruit and handicraft lining in the street.

When the curtain of night is approaching, the street is crowded and illuminated. The Crazy Yak Troupe is worthwhile to watch a Tibetan singing and dancing for your first visit to Lhasa. It entertains at a couple of different venue in Lhasa, including the Crazy Yak Restaurant and the Shangri La Restaurant. The show stats with short performance of various aspects of Tibetan Opera, carrying on with a drinking song which everyone is encouraged to take part in, and culminates in a sketch symbolizing how nomads subhue and tame wild yaks into domestic animals. A pantomime yak comes on stage and appears ot be wild before being restrained and he then walks round kissing members of the audience. The show finishes with the nomed riding out on the back of the yak. A very amusing and entertaining evening indeed.

Bars in Lhasa are often attractive for their unique exotic flavors. It is a popular place for you to meet friends and share your travel stories or sit quietly alone relaxing, reading books or listening to music.

Lhasa Nightlife

Ganglamedo Café&Bar is located on Barkhor Street. “Ganglamedo” means “Snowdrop” in Tibetan. The bar is managed by a woman from Dalian city. It is a complex place with more music records and paintings than other bars. Entering the doo, you will be welcomed by many elaborate canvases and watercolor paintings with the set in Tibet. The strong artistic atmosphere will make you in inebriation.

Makye Ame” means a unsophisticated girl in Tibetan, which is the most famous and comfortable bar in Tibet. The three-storey off-white building on Barkhor Street is the romantic place where the 6th Dalai Lama once waited for his beautiful girl. One of the interesting thing in the bar is that there are many volumes filed with stories written by former visitors. Of course, you could leave your own story too.

Backpacker is a newly opened bar where you will receive warm welcome. It is managed by two young men who came from Beijing fell in love with Lhasa at the first sight. They are really the typical young men of enthusiasm and impulse! You can inquire for the latest news of anyplace or ask the young bosses to solve problems such as chatering vehicle and planning routes. Its specialties are yoghurt and beef cakes.

National Music Country is operated by a musician who takes characteristic music as the theme of the bar, which is also a good choice for relaxation.
There are 4 bars on the Bar Street opposite to Lhasa Hotel in the National Zhong Road. Among them, the most popular one should be Shicao Hall. Although prices of drinks here are comparatively high, it absorbs many local people.
