800-Year-old Village Tour

 Located 90 KM away west of Beijing ,Chuan Di Xia Village is one of China's well preserved ancient villages with the history of over 400 years. The village is known for its 70 conserved traditional courtyard buildings from the Ming Dynasty. The village's buildings were damaged during the Japanese occupation and during the Cultural Revolution, and remain in this damaged state, frozen in time. Remnants of occupation can still be found around the village. Now just over 200 people still live in the village. Architects calls this village the living museum?of local Chinese housing. This area is great for hiking, offering a range of walks suitable for families as well we experience as well as very experienced walks. Tour Itinerary : Get up at 7:00 am at your hotel and take private van or car for Chuan Di Xia Village?Drive west along No.109 National Road. About 80 KM away from Beijing, you will reach a town called Zhai Tang Zhen. Turn north and drive another 10 KM before entering the village-Chuan Di Xia. Driving time to reach the village is about 3 hours. After a short rest and fresh up, let's take a three hourscircular walk. First take the steps up into the village, opposite the stone wall. You may enter the houses of the locals. People are very friendly. You will pass a public toilet. Then get to a restaurant called Gu Bao Fan Dian. It has red lanterns hanging outside there. 揋u Bao?means old castle. The restaurant is located on the higher land hence the name. After having local flavor for the lunch, move on to take the trail to a ruined village called Bai Yu Village. This is a ruined village. This village is abandoned because it ran out of water. Now it has turned into a tourist spot open to the outside. Simply follow this dirt road up to the ruined village and come back the same way. Then drive up and back to the center of Beijing to your hotel.
