We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Shang Dynasty Ruins in Zhengzhou

The Shang Dynasty Ruins is situated in the downtown and suburb of Zhengzhou, which feathers the Erligang Culture of the Shang Dynasty. It was discovered in 1950 and was listed as the National Cultural Heritage Conservation Board in 1961.

The ruin is square in shape with an area of 25 square kilometers. It has a perimeter of 7 kilometers and its remained wall is 5 meters at the highest with a base of 32 meters at the widest. In the northeast of the ruin, a number of construction foundations, large or small, were discovered. Most of those foundations are in the shape of rectangle with orderly arranged holes and some have base stones.  There are about more than 100 skulls have been excavated and most of them are cut into half.

A lot of large sized bronze objects with imperial-style sets were found here. All of these bronze relics are elaborate works, such as the Duling Tripod of 1 meter high and 86.4 kilograms in weight, which is the largest piece of bronze ware relic of the early Shang found in the world. These bronze objects are national treasures buried before the capital relocation amid political turbulences.
