We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Xinjiang Museum

Located on No.132, Northwest Road, Urumqi, Xinjiang museum (新疆博物馆) is the only comprehensive regional museum and the largest institute to protect the collections, research science and publicize education. Primarily, it was designed as an agricultural museum, then in 1962 it moved to the current site and turned to be Xinjiang museum.

Occupying an area of 17,288 square meters, Xinjiang museum is composed of two layers. It collects 32,000 objects including fabrics of silk, flax and cotton, document written by a variety of language, wood carving and clay sculpture made from Jin to Tang Dynasties, flowers and birds painting, bronzes, and art and clothing in Xinjiang style.

Xinjiang museum displays exhibition on the following: Firstly, Exhibition of ethnic minorities in Xinjiang including Xinjiang dress, festival entertainment, marriage and funeral, manner, diet, religion and customs. Secondly, exhibition of Xinjiang history and unearthed relics such as silk, pottery, clay figures, coin, inscription, documents, weapony, etc.

 Third, the exhibition of Xinjiang ancientcorpse displays the Loulan woman corpse about 3,800 year ago, Kumul woman corpse 3,200 years ago and Qiemo woman corpse 3,000 years ago. Cultural relics of Xinjiang, China were put on display in Long Island, Tokyo, Okayama and Sendai of Japan in 1986. In 1988, Xinjiang Folk Art was shown in Hongkong and Macao.
