We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Blue Wave Pavilion in Suzhou

Blue Wave Pavilion(沧浪亭) is also one of the oldest gardens in Suzhou. It is not a single pavilion, but a garden surrounded by water, rocks, bridge and architectures.  The pavilion is the perfect place to enjoy the entire beauty in the garden.

Comparing with other gardens, Blue Wave Pavilion pays more attention to the harmony between natural environment and artificial buildings. When you enter the garden, a green water pool surrounded by weeping willows comes to your eyes firstly..

The manmade rock formations can be divided into two parts. The small hill on the western side was mostly made of stones from lakes. And the small hills on the eastern side were made from a special material, which was the admixture of earth and yellow stones.

Green trees and bamboos were planted on both of these rock formations, and additional beauty of the scene was created. Walking in such a manmade formation, a feel of touring primitive forest will strike you. Additionally, the zigzagging lanes connecting one scenic spot with another one wind through the garden. The corridors link the unique stone formations and pools together to form whole scenery.
