We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Gaoqiao Muffin

Gaoqiao muffins(高桥松饼) pastry known as sand puff pastry, is one of the famous Shanghai Gaoqiao Town specialty products and it has more than 100 years of history. Because of pastry layered, each as thin as paper, so its nickname is thousand layer pastry. It is an important part of Shanghai culture.


After adding ingredients, leavened dough, rub crisp, crisp packets, crisp open, insert skin, encrusting, baking, cooling, testing, boxing and other processes, finished shape looks like a moon cake. The cake appears golden yellow, oily smooth, surrounded by white, the bottom of the coke is not stiff and the pastry is structured. The stuffing is free of impurities, filling full, so it tastes crisp and sweet.


















The stuffing of the Gaoqiao muffin is sweet, because it was selected the finest raw materials since ancient times, such as red beans will certainly choose red bean produced in Chongming. Gaoqiao muffin is also known as the "Shanghai suburbs treasure," once reported in the "Liberation Daily", "Xinmin Evening News", "food weekly," and so on.
