We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Dragon Dance

Dragon Dance (舞龙) refers to dragon dancer handheld dragon tools under the guidance of Dragon Pearl, with the accompaniment of drums, through changes in body movement and posture. It is an important part of Shanghai culture. The dragon dancer complete swim, wear, soar, jump, turn, roll, play, tied, group Figure modeling and other movements and routines, demonstrating a traditional dragon’s vital essence, romantic charm  and other content. The Chinese nation is the most populous country in the world where there are places to live regarded Chinese "dragon" as auspicious objects. At festivals, blessings, evil, ritual, and other festivals, there are "Dragon Dance" customs.

When playing the dragon, there are dozens of fellow holding a dragon in the clouds light up and down through, sometimes hopping, sometimes diving, and ever changing. Sometimes there are firecrackers and fireworks move back and forth! Here surrounded by hundreds of revelers, drums and gongs, making a spectacular and bustling environment!

This imposing scene greatly stimulates people's emotions, excites and inspires the people. Therefore, dragon dance has become indispensable to maintain the traditional Chinese culture movement and it also reflects the Chinese people's invincible heroic spirit of fighting against heaven and earth.

The Chinese nation is a creative nation. Looking around all performances in the country, there are various kinds and unique dragon dance. The common ones are fire dragon, grass dragon, wool dragon (Guizhou shiqian), long dragon, cloth dragon, paper dragon, flowers dragon, basket dragon, segment dragon, candle dragon, Drunken Dragon, bamboo dragon, lotus dragon, bench dragon, long pole draagon, Qiqiao dragon, bulk dragon, luminous dragon and dragon fireworks. The sessions of dragon is generally seven, nine and thirteen.

From ancient times, the dragon dance activity enduring popularity, handed down from generation to generation. Dragon is no longer a national unique "self-evident" project, but belong to the various ethnic groups. Today, in our country, this multi-ethnic family, "Dragon" has become a symbol of the whole Chinese nation. Dragon is part of the creation and spread of the glorious history of the whole nation, for our nation and people. There are various kinds of lanterns in Lantern Festival, such as flowers, birds and insects, beasts, everything, but only one of the most outstanding one is the "dragon lantern." This new custom of “dragon dance" is played during lantern festival. Playing dragon dance is also called "off the dragon," because the dragon is long and heavy. Unless more than ten strong men holding its heavy body, it couldn’t raise its head and fishtails in percussion sound.
