History: Shaanxi is considered to be the cradle of Chinese civilization. More than 1.1 million years ago, "Lantian Ape Men" lived and multiplied here. As far as 2,000 years ago, Yellow Emperor and Yan Emperor acted here. From the Zhou Dynasty to the Tang Dynasty, thirteen feudal dynasties established their capitals in the province during a span of more than 1,100 years.
Climate: Shaanxi province enjoys a continent monsoon climate as a whole. Due to the a 800-kilometer stretch from north to south, the climate is different in different regions. It enjoys temperate semi-arid monsoon climate in the north; warm temperate semi-aird and sem-humid monsoon climate in the middle and subtropical humid monsoon climate in the south. Shaanxi has distinctive seasons. The annual average temperature is 7℃-16℃. The distributing of rainfall descends from south to north.
Transportation: Airport-Xian, Yanan, Yulin, Ankang, and Hanzhong have their own airports. Xianyang Airport is the largest one the northwestern region of China.
Railway- Lianyungang-Lanzhou Railway, Zhengzhou-Xian high-speed Railway, Xian-Baoji high-speed Railway, Datong-Xian high-speed Highway, Xian-Chengdu high-speed Railway, Xian-Tongchuan high-speed Railway,Xian-Tongchuan Intercity Railway and Ningxia-Xian Railway pass through Shaanxi province.
Highway-9 highways and 8 state roads pass through the province.
Local Specialties: tri-colored glazed pottery of the Tand Dynasty, paper cut, clay sculpture, Shaanxi farmer's picture
Local Food: Local residents are good at using local materials to prepare delicious dishes, such as hump and hoof of a camel, fat sheep from north Shaanxi, Qinchuan oxen, carps from the Yellow River and black rice from Hanzhong. Through boiling, stewing, braising, frying and cooking, they produce a wide variety of dishes of different tastes. The flavour is strong and the taste is heavy.
