We had an absolutely perfect day with our tour guide - Rogin Luo - who took us for a hike along The Great Wall! Didn't know what to expect and were thrilled to have him as our guide. Very imformative, knowledgable and fun! We go to experience a part of The Great Wall that was unrestored and see all its natural beauty. Got a long history lesson along the way!

After the hike, we all went to lunch at a small place at the bottom of the hill. Located in a house, we ate lunch in the proprietors bedroom! What a hoot! Rogin is the Best of the Best! This tour company delivered for us and we are extremely grateful.

Location: Maanshan (马鞍山) is situated in the east of Anhui Province and the south bank of the lower reaches of Yangtze River.

Population: 2,387,700

Area: with an area of 4,042 square kilometers

Nationalities: Han, Mongolia

History: Qin set up Danyang Town in the area in B.C.221. From Sui Dynasty to South Tang Dynasty, it was named Gushu Town under the administration of Dangtu County. In National Republic of China, it was set up as Dangtu County. In 1954, February, Maanshan Town was founded and in 1956, Maanshan city was authorized under the direct administration of Anhui Province.

Climate: Maanshan enjoys a subtropical humid monsoon climate. It is just the same to other cities along the Yangtze River Delta. The annual mean temperature is 15.9℃. The lower humidity makes its summer and winter less extreme. The rain falls in summer, most concentrating in July.

Transportation: Air-There is no airport in Maanshan. The nearby airport is Nanjing Lukou International Airport, about 38km from Maanshan.

Railway- Nanjing-Tongling Railway runs through Maanshan city. The railway station in Maanshan services trains to Beijing, Nanjing, Shanghai, Fuzhou and so on.

Highway-Maanshan Long-distance Bus Station lies between Nanjing and Wuhu. National Road 205,314 pass through the city. Nanjing-Maanshan Highway together with Nanjing-Shanghai Highway shorten the time from Maanshan to Shanghai.

Waterway-Nanjing-Hankou traveling ship stops at Maanshan every day.

Specialties: Turquoise jewelry, Silk painting, Sea lion quilt

Local Food: Yangtze River Fish Banquet centering on Yangtze River fish, shrimp and crab is a must during your travel in Maanshan.

Attractions: Caishi Rock Scenic Spot- Caishi Rock (采石矶) lies the east bank of Yangtze River, about 5 km from the southwest of Maanshan city. Caishi Rock has been listed as the Key National Scenic Area, plusing “grand, peculiar, steepy and beautiful” all together. Besides, Caishi Rock was also a Buddhist Mecca in history, attracting its followers.
